Better weight averages?

2025-03-27 00:00

The way most weight tracking apps etc handle averages is that they take the number of weigh ins last week take the sum of the weights and divide that by the number of weigh ins.

Makes sense.

But this isn’t really a good representation of my average weight that week.

If I step more times on my smart scale during one day than another, something I often do when I work from home, then what my weight those days were will affect the average much more than the days where I just weighed in after my morning workout and before dinner.

I like how Happy Scale does it, where they only keep the best” weigh in for a day.

I’d also like for apps that do a general average to have a better understanding of the samples. Like if you have a bunch of weigh ins very close to each other first make an average of them. Then continue that process from minutes to hours. Before you do the same for the entire day. Use that for the week and month, year.
